Evergy hikes dividend by 6.3%

Evergy Inc (EVRG), formerly Westar Energy (WR), will raise its quarterly dividend by 6.3 percent to $0.505 per share in Q4 of 2019. The utility company has increased its annual dividend for 16 consecutive years.

The next dividend is payable on December 20, 2019 to shareholders of record as of November 27, 2019. A new annual rate of $2.02 per share yields 3.2% at a stock price of $63.

“Evergy delivered another solid quarter and continues to be on track for the year, despite regulatory headwinds,” said Terry Bassham, Evergy president and chief executive officer. “Additionally, we have increased our dividend by 6.3%, consistent with our long-term dividend growth guidance. We remain focused on executing our operating priorities and realizing the benefits of our merger completed last year, which we are confident will drive sustainable value creation.”

Evergy, Inc. is an energy company. The Company provides electric generation, transmission and distribution services to customers in Kansas.  It serves the customers under Westar and KCP&L brand names. Evergy's subsidiaries include Kansas City Power & Light Company (KCP&L) and Westar Energy, Inc.
